Day 35

Well again it wa a roller coaster of a day. We were all called in to the office to get our exam results, and to be honest. I wasn't happy with mine. 71% Herbs and 79% technique. This really did put quite a dampner on my day. None the less I ploughed on with it all.

It really was like working in a chipper (Irish for Fish and Chip shop). There were queues for the fryers, people filliting fish and chopping up potatoes all over the place. Every one had to be industrious. All my dishes came out pretty well actually though. So overall very pleased.

The whole exam thing had been playing on my mind though, so I went back to ask them where I went wrong. The first thing they told me was that they were wrong, they gave me another Mark's results. I actually got 75% and 85% respectively. Better I thought, although I really was hoping for 90% on the technique. They broke it down for me. On one of my dishes on the exam, it was slightly underseasoned, so i got half a mark knocked off for that. And when I was poring the wine, I forgot to present it to the teacher. So not really gutted about that too much. I knew the eggs were underseasoned, I just should have done something about it.

Not surprised on the herbs, as like I mentioned before, I had missed 5 of the questions out (the ones where you had to match herbs with dishes we had made), I should have stayed and filled them out with anything. I was surprised I got 4 of the actual herbs wrong. I'm pretty sure I actually got them right, but just filled in the wrong boxes. Perhaps that's more stupid though.

Weekend is upon us. Everyone here is talking about the Ireland - England game. Personally, I'm just hoping that West Ham win, and Wigan lose. Otherwise it'll be another shitty weekend.

SlaƩn.

pah, not presenting the wine?! Plenty of time for all that frilly stuff - don't be so tough on yourself, your cooking sounds the business! Hope the Ramones t-shirt worked (I'm sure you got cool points from the kids for staying up late and sleeping in someone's car though), the pie sounds absolutely delicious and that giant trifle thing in front of Rory McConnel looks good too. Hackney's not so bad, there's a great Farmers Market in Stokey now and you could start a community veg garden at Landmark Heights! Well done Mark
